If you are going to air your bicycle tire, you need to put in the right air pressure. Over inflating the tire or under inflating it may break the performance of the bicycle. If you want to be one step in front of your game, you will have to recognise how to air your bicycle in properly. Don’t worry. In this article, you will learn how to do this effectively. Step 1: Get the right pump device. This will depend on the type of valve your bicycle has. Most bicycles have the established type of valve but the use of bicycles with Presta dn Schrader valves are also prevalent worldwide.

A Schrader valve has wider valves characterized by a black color and plastic cap materials. It almost resembles that of the valves in the tire of your car. For Presta valves, it has skinny metal valves with a nozzle found at the top. You might have to unscrew the nozzle first. There is also another type of Valve which is the Dunlop valve but you may use the pump applied for Schrader for this valve.

Step 2: For ordinary types of valve and for the Schrader ones, just unscrew the cap. If you have Presta, unscrew the cap and then turn the nozzle counter clockwise. By now, you must have already acquired the right pump for the valve. You just have to find the right valve attachment if you are using a multi-purpose pump device.

Step 3: Attach the pump or the attachment of the pump to the valve. Some pumps include a locking lever to secure it as it pumps in air. If the pump you have does not have this feature, you just have to make sure that you hold the head of the pump securely on the valve to prevent air from escaping.

Step 4: If you are keeping the pump head down on the valve, ask someone to press the pump up and down. Do this until you have achieved the right PSI level, the commended PSI or the level you deem is firm enough.

Step 5: Remove the pump head and put the cap back on again. For Presta valves, twist it clock wise firstborn and the place the cap back.

These are the things you need to do when you are airing a bicycle tire. Just make sure the right air pressure is maintained.

Nice product but handle is uncomfortable

This is a well-built product; my only complaint is that handle doesn’t pivot and is therefore a bit hard to grasp. Also, the instructions weren’t very clear for this first-time user of Presta valves.

Looks and works great!

Recieved the pump in just a few days. It works well for it’s intended purpose and looks great on my black bike. I looked at several pumps and am very pleased with this purchase.
